Dame Judi Dench, 91, has disclosed that the one Shakespearean role she always wished to play is Cressida in "Troilus and Cressida." In a new interview with People magazine, the Oscar-winning actor described the character as perpetually intriguing and referred to the part as "the one that got away."
Memoir and health challenges
Dench is currently promoting her memoir, "Is It Too Late to Make a Run For It?", due for publication on November 3. Earlier this month, she revealed that worsening age-related macular degeneration, diagnosed in 2012, has forced her to stop working. She told BBC Radio 4's Today program that she can no longer perform on stage, act in films, or read, but emphasized adapting and carrying on.
Reflections on aging
When asked about growing older, Dench said she does not dwell on it. She also spoke of the sadness of losing the ability to see the color blue, recalling a summer of bluebells she could not perceive.
