Jason Reynolds, a leading children's author, will publish his first adult novel, "Father, Father," in June through Scribner, the publisher announced Wednesday.
Road trip explores brotherly bonds
The novel follows two brothers on a cross-country road trip as they share contrasting memories of their recently deceased father.
Author's perspective
Reynolds described the book as "an intimate tale about journeying toward each other while also confronting the complicated truth that human beings can be both awful and graceful in the same life."
Acclaimed career
The 42-year-old writer is known for prize-winning works such as "All American Boys," "Look Both Ways" and "Long Way Down." He served as the Library of Congress National Ambassador for Young People's Literature from 2020 to 2022.
Tradition of crossover authors
"Father, Father" continues a trend of prominent children's authors, including J.K. Rowling, Judy Blume and John Green, publishing for adult audiences.
