A convicted murderer escaped from a Tennessee prison early Monday by slipping through a fence, then stole a pickup truck from a nearby farm and drove more than 120 miles before abandoning the vehicle in Illinois, authorities said.
Escape and Theft
Jacob Allen Morley, 28, was spotted on surveillance video around 1 a.m. on October 26 about two miles from the Northwest Correctional Complex near Tiptonville, Tennessee, taking a truck from a farm. The vehicle was found abandoned the following day in Marion, Illinois, over 100 miles from the theft location.

The local police chief said Morley has "vanished" and a search is ongoing. Morley was sentenced to life in prison in 2022 for the killing of his co-worker, Cody Birchfield.
