Albert Williams, 66, has admitted to the murder of Charlene Dowsell, a mother of four, in a stabbing incident in Newport. The guilty plea was entered at Cardiff Crown Court on Monday.

Details of the Incident

The fatal attack occurred in the early hours of July 18 outside a property on St Vincent Road. Emergency services, including firearms officers, responded to reports of an altercation at the scene. Paramedics pronounced Ms. Dowsell dead a short distance away near Chepstow Road.

Sentencing and Judicial Ruling

During the court proceedings, Recorder of Cardiff, Judge Tracey Lloyd-Clarke, stated that following the guilty plea, the only possible sentence for Williams is life imprisonment. He is scheduled to receive his formal sentence on December 21.
