Former Sydney childcare worker Ashley Paul Griffith has been charged with 202 additional child abuse offences, including 68 counts of rape of a child under 10 and 42 counts of aggravated rape of a child under his authority. The charges, laid by New South Wales police, relate to 23 alleged victims aged between one and five at a childcare centre in Sydney's inner west between 2014 and 2017.

Charges follow Queensland life sentence

Griffith, 48, was extradited from Queensland to NSW this week after being jailed for life in November 2024 for more than 300 child sexual offences against nearly 70 victims. He pleaded guilty in Queensland to assaulting and filming young girls over several years while working at childcare centres. The fresh NSW charges also include 69 counts of aggravated indecent assault and 23 charges of producing child abuse material. Griffith is currently held at Silverwater Correctional Complex in Sydney.

NSW Police Assistant Commissioner Brett Greentree described the allegations as "deeply disturbing" and said the lengthy investigation involved collaboration with police nationwide. He emphasized the commitment to holding accountable those who exploit positions of trust to offend against children.
