In southern Lebanon, visual artist Lina Jouni is repurposing fragments of Israeli military munitions to create unique art pieces. Since 2024, Jouni has been collecting shrapnel from the rubble of destroyed homes in the town of Roumin.
Transforming Destruction into Beauty
The artist utilizes these metallic remnants to craft various items, including sculptures, keychains, and decorative objects. By converting pieces of weaponry into art, she seeks to change the nature of the material.
Jouni expressed that she intends to turn something that was meant to cause harm or death into something beautiful. She noted that she transforms these remnants into harmless objects as a way to defy the destructive purpose they were originally designed for.
