Matt Damon has disclosed that his wife, Luciana Damon, underwent emergency brain surgery days before the 2024 Academy Awards, forcing him to miss the ceremony where his film "Oppenheimer" won seven Oscars.

Wife's Health Scare

In an interview with GQ magazine, the 56-year-old actor said Luciana suffered a brain aneurysm and had surgery the week before the Oscars. She recovered enough to attend the after-party, which Damon described as heroic.

Previous Oscars Absence

Damon also recalled missing the 2007 Oscars when "The Departed" won Best Picture. He was filming "The Bourne Ultimatum" in Miami and did not anticipate the win, later regretting his absence.

2027 Oscar Prospects

Damon is widely expected to receive a Best Actor nomination at the 2027 Academy Awards for his lead role in Christopher Nolan's upcoming film "The Odyssey." Nominations will be announced on January 21, with the ceremony scheduled for March 14.
