Daisy May Cooper Reveals Why She Quit Celebrity Traitors

By Sohaib Shams

Daisy May Cooper has spoken for the first time about withdrawing from the first series of BBC's Celebrity Traitors, saying the living conditions and limited family contact made the job "not enough money" for what she would endure.

Living conditions and family concerns

Cooper, known for the sitcom This Country, confirmed she and her brother Charlie Cooper were originally set to compete but pulled out after learning they would stay in a substandard hotel and could not share a room. She also noted the requirement to go two weeks without regular contact with her children, which she described as a "f***ing nightmare."

First series and current season

The inaugural celebrity series proceeded with participants including Jonathan Ross, Nick Mohammed, Paloma Faith, Joe Wilkinson and Sir Stephen Fry, with comedian Alan Carr emerging as the winner. The second series is now airing on BBC One, featuring contestants such as James Acaster, Maya Jama, James Blunt and Michael Sheen.

Return to Last One Laughing UK

Cooper has since returned for the Halloween special of Last One Laughing UK on Amazon Prime Video, calling it her favourite job. The spin-off pits her against comedians Jack Dee, Phil Wang, Reece Shearsmith, Harriet Dyer, Tom Allen and Lou Sanders, with cameo appearances from David Mitchell, Catherine Tate and Steve Pemberton. The first three episodes are currently streaming.
