Clara, a 24-year-old marketing graduate from Portugal, became the sixth contestant to leave The Great British Bake Off following pastry week, which aired on Tuesday on Channel 4.
Challenges and Star Baker
Judges Paul Hollywood and Nigella Lawson set three challenges: handheld savoury pies, a technical choux pastry for a Polish dessert, and a decorative pie showstopper. Tom, a 25-year-old hairdresser, earned star baker for the third time.
Clara's Reaction
Clara said she had anticipated her exit, admitting she “really struggled” during pastry week. She reflected on the experience, noting it taught her about herself and her bipolar disorder, which she had discussed earlier in the episode. Her showstopper, a sun and moon design, represented her mind’s contrasting sides.
Positive Outlook
Despite elimination, Clara expressed pride in her achievement and encouraged aspiring bakers to apply for future series. She emphasized that a bad bake does not make a bad baker, but signals room for improvement. She praised the supportive dynamic among the remaining contestants.
Previous Eliminations and Schedule
Clara follows Danni, Shannon, Molly, Nikki, and Yannis as the sixth departure this season. The Great British Bake Off returns to Channel 4 next Tuesday at 8pm.
