Carrie-Anne Moss has revealed she rejected a substantial payment for a role early in her career after being told to "dress sexier" for the audition. The Canadian actor, 59, said the demand came after her experience on the soap opera Models Inc, where she felt her character was repeatedly exploited. Moss turned to meditation to cope with industry rejection, which she said gave her the strength to decline the offer.
Shortly after turning down that role, Moss was cast as Trinity in the 1999 sci-fi blockbuster The Matrix, a part that defined her career. She went on to star in Christopher Nolan's Memento, the romance film Chocolat, the Marvel series Jessica Jones, and three further Matrix sequels. Moss later took a lengthy break to raise her three children with husband Steven Roy, a decision she recently called "the greatest decision I ever made." Her next project is the Canadian drama Yaga, set to air on Sky in the UK later this month.
