Actor Noah Wyle has been named People magazine's Sexiest Man Alive for 2026, an honor that prompted humorous and skeptical reactions from his children. The 55-year-old star, known for his roles in "ER" and the new series "The Pitt," learned of the accolade with initial disbelief, thinking it might be a prank.
Family reactions
Wyle shares 11-year-old daughter Frances with his wife Sara, 46, and has two older children, Owen, 24, and Auden, 21, from a previous marriage. He described his son's practical response: "Oh, this is going to make my life so much harder now. But that's cool, Dad. But also, you invite a lot of haters too." His older daughter simply said, "No way, no way," anticipating years of teasing. Wyle expects significant ribbing from friends and family as well.
Wife's support and personal doubts
His wife Sara convinced him the honor was deserved, telling him that his character as a father and husband was worth promoting. Despite the recognition, Wyle admitted he remains self-conscious and uncomfortable with public attention. "I like being in other people's skin. I like putting on characters. I get self-conscious. It's still the hardest kind of interaction for me, speaking without a script as myself," he said.
Clooney connection and new series
Former "ER" co-star George Clooney has received the same title twice. Wyle joked that Clooney would be "amused and feel, hopefully, like a proud papa, that I've come of grey-haired age." Wyle also reflected on how "The Pitt" offers him a chance to work with more presence and composure than earlier in his career.
