Amanda Serrano to Retire with Final Fight in Puerto Rico on Jan 9

Seven-weight world champion Amanda Serrano will end her professional boxing career on January 9 at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico in San Juan, defending her WBA and WBO featherweight titles against Australia’s Skye Falzon.

Final fight details

The 38-year-old Puerto Rican, who holds a record of 50 wins, four losses and one draw, aims to break the all-time women’s knockout record of 32 held by Christy Martin. The bout, billed as “The Last Walk,” will be contested over 12 three-minute rounds against 37-year-old Falzon, who has won 12 of her 14 professional fights, seven by knockout.

Career highlights

Serrano turned professional in 2009 and became the only Puerto Rican boxer, male or female, to achieve undisputed world champion status. Her profile rose after signing with Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) in 2021, founded by Jake Paul and Nakisa Bidarian. She recently earned her 50th win via majority decision over Argentina’s Lucrecia Manzur, a fight broadcast live on TikTok to 3.4 million views.

Legacy and advocacy

Serrano’s career is defined by a historic rivalry with Ireland’s Katie Taylor, who won all three encounters, including the first women’s headline bout at Madison Square Garden in 2022 and a trilogy finale in July 2025. Serrano said she will continue advocating for equal opportunities, fair pay and the same rules as men in women’s boxing after retirement. MVP co-founders Paul and Bidarian called her “the most accomplished female boxer of all time.”
