Former ESPN reporter Britt McHenry has resigned from her position as a press adviser at the State Department. The resignation follows an altercation that took place during an NBA game earlier this week.
Basketball Game Incident
McHenry was reportedly captured on camera appearing to throw a drink at an individual during a Washington Wizards vs. Milwaukee Bucks game on Wednesday. Video footage suggests she was escorted from the stands at Capital One Arena following the incident.
Background and Career
McHenry had been appointed to her role at the State Department just last month. When asked for comment regarding her departure, a State Department official declined to provide details, stating that the exit is an internal personnel matter.
Before her government service, McHenry was a prominent television reporter for ESPN. In 2015, she faced a one-week suspension by the network after video footage surfaced of her berating a clerk at a towing company.
