Former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown pleaded guilty Friday to aggravated assault with a firearm, securing a plea agreement that spares him prison time for a 2025 shooting at a Miami celebrity boxing match.
Details of the Incident
On May 16, 2025, Brown allegedly took a handgun from a security guard during a celebrity boxing event in Miami and opened fire on a man he had fought earlier. The victim, Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu, told police a bullet grazed his neck.
Plea Agreement and Sentencing
Brown accepted three years of probation, a mandatory psychological evaluation, and weekly counseling if ordered. His defense attorney, Mark Eiglarsh, said Brown faced up to 30 years with a 20-year mandatory minimum and called the probation offer "too good to turn down."
Victim's Stance
Nantambu had stated he did not want Brown prosecuted and wanted the case closed, according to authorities.
Brown's Reaction
Speaking outside court, Brown said, "I thank God."
Football Career Background
Brown last played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the 2021 season. His final game, on Jan. 3, 2022, against the New York Jets, ended with him removing his jersey and pads and storming off the field after a dispute with coach Bruce Arians.
