Thomas Markle Sr., the father of Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, was arrested by federal authorities in Florida on Friday on one count of possession of child pornography, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Central District of California.
Arrest follows prior investigation
The arrest comes after a report last month indicated Markle was under investigation by authorities in the Philippines for allegedly possessing child sexual abuse material. Those claims were reportedly made by his son, Thomas Markle Jr., Meghan's half-brother.
Developing case
Federal prosecutors in California announced the charge on Friday. The case remains active and further details are expected as the legal process moves forward.
