Singer James Blunt has disclosed that his wife, Sofia Wellesley, spent months believing he had won the BBC competition Celebrity Traitors, only learning the truth when the final episode aired. Blunt reached the last three contestants before being banished by the eventual winners, Romesh Ranganathan and Sebastian 'Bash' Croft.
Strict secrecy rules
Blunt was prohibited from revealing the outcome due to the show's strict non-disclosure agreement. He told The Sun that his wife genuinely thought he had triumphed, and even as she watched the finale she was stunned by the reveal. "I signed my NDA, and I stuck to my NDA!" he said.
Filming experience
The 52-year-old described filming as a marathon that was at times a terrible experience. He revealed that producers played the Hunger Games track "The Hanging Tree" before Round Table sessions to unsettle contestants, a tactic that left him sweating and shaking. His wife later noted he appeared traumatised by the song.
Relationship with Romesh Ranganathan
Addressing rumours of a feud with co-star Romesh Ranganathan, who helped eliminate him, Blunt insisted they get on very well. He confirmed that Ranganathan had donated to his preferred charity, the Blue Marine Foundation. Ranganathan, 48, and Croft, 24, split the £83,000 prize pot between Choose Love and the Refugee Council.
