Fin Smith cleared to start for England against Australia

By Fatma Younis

England fly-half Fin Smith has been passed fit to start Sunday's autumn opener against Australia at Allianz Stadium after completing Friday's final training session without issue.

Smith returns at fly-half

The 22-year-old missed the July victory over Argentina due to a calf problem but came through the week's concluding session to give head coach Steve Borthwick a significant selection boost.

Furbank ends two-year absence

George Furbank returns at full-back for his first England appearance since 2022, having been ruled out of the Argentina match with appendicitis. The Harlequins playmaker also withdrew from the South Africa fixture in July because of the same condition, ending his tour without playing a minute.

Borthwick makes four changes

Borthwick has made four changes to the starting XV that defeated Argentina 31-24 in July as England begin a four-Test November series.
