Real Madrid secured a vital 2-1 victory against Barcelona at the Camp Nou, fueled by two goals from Kylian Mbappe. The result ends Barcelona's nine-game unbeaten domestic run and significantly alters the La Liga standings, bringing Real Madrid within three points of the league leaders.
Mourinho Maintains Unbeaten Streak Against Rivals
Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho extended his impressive record against Barcelona, becoming only the third Real Madrid boss to go six consecutive El Clasico matches without defeat. This achievement follows his previous successful stint with the club 13 years ago. His recent record against the Catalan side stands at four wins and two draws in his last six encounters.
Post-Match Reactions from the Managers
Following the match, Mourinho emphasized that his team's objective at the Camp Nou was not just to win the game, but to secure the La Liga title. He credited the players for their calmness and merit during the performance, noting that the squad's diverse midfield talents provided necessary balance between defense and attack.
On the other side, Barcelona manager Hansi Flick attributed the loss to a lack of physical freshness. He noted that the demanding schedule had taken a toll on his players, stating that small details decided the outcome of the high-stakes match and that the team must focus on recovery and responding to the defeat.
