Radio presenter Zoe Ball has revealed she was involved in a "violent" road rage incident with a cyclist in London, during which the cyclist punched her car windscreen.
Altercation with cyclist
Ball, 55, recounted the altercation on Thursday's episode of her "Dig It" podcast with co-host Jo Whiley. She said the incident occurred days earlier while she was driving in London, describing the roads as "absolute carnage" with cyclists weaving around cars and ignoring traffic lights.
According to Ball, the cyclist punched her windscreen despite her slowing down and moving over. Whiley characterized the act as violent and violating, to which Ball agreed, urging everyone to "chill out" and "slow down a little bit for God's sake."
Anxiety and career moves
In the same episode, Ball disclosed that her anxiety had been "terrible" recently, including panic attacks over the weekend. She said limiting coffee intake had helped, and speculated that hormonal fluctuations or grief over her mother's death might be factors.
Ball has previously spoken about "crippling anxiety" affecting her work on BBC Radio 2, which she left in December 2024. She lost her mother to cancer in 2023, prompting her to step back from her breakfast show. After a brief return to a Saturday slot, she departed the station entirely. In September, she announced a new show on Greatest Hits Radio alongside former Radio 2 colleague Ken Bruce.
