Thailand has banned an academic textbook authored by an exiled scholar, citing national security concerns. The book, the author's second work on the monarchy, has been prohibited and distributors face potential prison sentences.

Authorities said the textbook threatens national security, though they did not specify which passages prompted the ban. The move follows a pattern of restricting publications deemed critical of the royal institution.
