Hamilton Stands by Leclerc Criticism, Vows Not to Be Silenced

Lewis Hamilton has doubled down on his criticism of Ferrari teammate Charles Leclerc following their clash at the Mexican Grand Prix, insisting he has no regrets and will continue to speak his mind.

Clash in Mexico

The incident occurred on the opening lap when Leclerc charged around the outside of pole-sitter Hamilton, running off the track to take the lead. Hamilton ultimately lost out to race winner Max Verstappen, and the seven-time world champion questioned Leclerc's mentality, suggesting his approach is "either I win or none of us do."

Demand for Rules of Engagement

Hamilton believed Ferrari could have secured a one-two finish and called for "serious talks" with team principal Fred Vasseur, again demanding a written rules of engagement for how the pair race on track. The 41-year-old said he would not apologise for being authentic and vowed not to be silenced.

Leclerc Absent for Child's Birth

Leclerc, 29, has not yet responded. He missed Thursday's media day in Brazil after attending the birth of his first child. Hamilton said the pair have not had an opportunity to speak with Vasseur.

Sainz Weighs In

Former Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz, who partnered Leclerc from 2019 to 2024, said he had no issues with the Monegasque but highlighted the intense polarization of the Ferrari fanbase. Sainz recalled that hardcore fans often wished him ill, and Italian media sometimes criticised him for not being a clear number two.

Hamilton's Push for Change

Hamilton acknowledged Leclerc's deep integration within the team, having joined the Ferrari academy in 2016. He said he has worked hard to build a harmonious relationship but will keep pushing for changes as long as he remains at the Scuderia, believing the team can fight for the championship next year.
