Amazon Prime Partners with Uber Eats for Free Delivery

By Islam El-Sakka

Amazon Prime members in the United States can now order meals from Uber Eats directly through the Amazon app and website without paying delivery fees on orders of $25 or more, the company announced Thursday.

Partnership details

The service launches in more than 10,000 cities and towns, giving Prime members access to hundreds of thousands of restaurants. No separate Uber account or app is required, and existing Prime customers receive $20 off their first two qualifying orders over a two-week period.

Grubhub replaced

Amazon ended its previous meal-delivery partnership with Grubhub to make way for the Uber Eats integration, marking the latest shift in the competitive food-delivery sector.

Competitive landscape

The move comes as DoorDash reportedly negotiates a $17 billion acquisition of Instacart, which would expand its delivery network to more than 150,000 stores. Meanwhile, Walmart has introduced a joint membership with Sam’s Club that bundles Walmart+ benefits, streaming services, and warehouse-club access.

Holiday sales outlook

Analysts project U.S. holiday retail sales will exceed $1 trillion for the first time, with roughly a quarter coming from online purchases. Amazon holds a 40.5 percent share of the online retail market compared with Walmart’s 6.4 percent in 2026, though Walmart leads in combined online and in-store sales.

Savings estimate

Amazon estimates the Uber Eats partnership will save Prime members more than $175 annually in delivery fees. Uber President Andrew Macdonald said the deal connects restaurants with new Prime customers while offering members a seamless ordering experience.
