Three people were caught trying to sneak more than 3,000 tarantulas onto a plane, with the spiders concealed inside socks in their luggage. Airport authorities seized the arachnids during a routine security check.
The attempted smuggling operation was intercepted before the passengers could board their flight. The tarantulas, hidden in socks packed within suitcases, represent one of the largest seizures of live spiders at an airport in recent years.
