The US military said on Tuesday it killed five people in an airstrike on a suspected drug-trafficking vessel in the eastern Pacific.
Dozens of strikes since Trump's second term
Tuesday's strike was among more than 70 such attacks since the beginning of Donald Trump's second presidency, according to media tallies, collectively killing more than 240 people.
Legal concerns raised
The Trump administration maintains the targets were involved in trafficking, but has not provided definitive evidence. Legal experts and rights groups argue the strikes could amount to extrajudicial killings because they apparently targeted civilians who did not pose an immediate threat to the United States.
