The Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute and Vogue have announced the theme for the 2027 Met Gala: "extraORDINARY: Fashion and the Poetics of the Everyday." The star-studded event, held annually on the first Monday of May, will explore fashion's relationship with daily life.
The new theme follows the museum's decision earlier this year to cancel a planned exhibition on designer John Galliano amid controversy. The cancellation prompted organizers to select a fresh direction for fashion's biggest night.
