NBC veteran Carson Daly will permanently co-anchor “Saturday Today” alongside Laura Jarrett beginning November 7, while remaining part of the regular weekday broadcasts, the network announced Thursday.
Replacing Peter Alexander
Daly has been serving as interim Saturday co-anchor since September, following Peter Alexander’s departure in March after 22 years at NBC for a new role at MSNBC. He will join feature anchor Joe Fryer and meteorologist Angie Lassman on the weekend broadcast.
Longtime NBC presence
Daly joined NBC 13 years ago as host of the “Orange Room” digital hub and gradually became a weekday fixture, delivering celebrity and pop‑culture news in the “PopStart” segment. He rose to fame hosting MTV’s “Total Request Live” from 1998 to 2003 and later hosted NBC’s late‑night “Last Call” until 2019. He has also hosted “The Voice” since 2011.
Colleagues celebrate
Executive Vice President of Today and Lifestyle Libby Leist praised Daly as an integral part of the “Today” family. Co‑host Savannah Guthrie called him “like a brother” and said he “makes everything taste better.” The team marked the announcement with a Guinness toast, referencing Daly’s recent trip to Ireland.
