Rubicon Yuzu & Pink Grapefruit Still 1L cartons have been recalled due to undeclared sulphites, the Food Standards Agency announced on Wednesday. Manufacturer AG Barr initiated the precautionary recall after identifying that specific batches may contain sulphites not listed on the label, posing a health risk to individuals with sulphite sensitivity or allergy.
Affected Batches
The recall covers four batch codes with best-before dates ranging from June to September 2027: 6160 (best before June 2027), 6198 (best before July 2027), 6219 (best before August 2027), and 6257 (best before September 2027). No other Rubicon products are affected.
Health Risks
Sulphites, used as preservatives, can trigger reactions ranging from rashes and nasal congestion to severe breathing difficulties, asthma attacks, and anaphylaxis. Sensitivity is rare in the general population but affects between 5% and 13% of asthmatics, according to Allergy UK.
Consumer Advice
Customers with sulphite sensitivity who have purchased the affected batches should not consume the product. They are advised to return it to the place of purchase for a full refund. For further information, consumers can contact AG Barr at consumercare@agbarr.co.uk.
