British telecommunications giant BT Group has reported a £1.1 billion profit even as it eliminates nearly 8,000 positions from its workforce. The job reductions form part of the company's ongoing cost-cutting programme.

The latest cuts add to previous workforce reductions as BT continues restructuring efforts aimed at improving efficiency and reducing operational expenses across its business units.
