The Food and Drug Administration has warned consumers to stop using all flavors of Tractor Wheel Organic Toddler Soft-Baked Bars after receiving reports of a choking hazard. The snack, sold by Once Upon a Farm, was distributed nationwide including Puerto Rico.
Choking Risk Identified
The FDA said the bars can "rapidly hydrate into a dense, dry, and sticky mass upon contact with saliva and during chewing," creating a potential choking hazard for children aged 1.5 to 2.5 years. Three choking incidents have been reported, some requiring emergency response and hospital observation. Standard interventions such as the Heimlich maneuver and back blows may prove ineffective, the agency noted.
Voluntary Recall Initiated
Once Upon a Farm CEO and co-founder John Foraker announced the voluntary recall on Facebook, stating the decision was made "with you and your family in mind" after receiving three consumer reports. The company is working with the FDA to remove affected products from shelves and is reformulating the bars to meet higher safety standards.
Consumer Guidance
The FDA urges customers not to open or consume any Tractor Wheels products. Consumers can return items to the place of purchase for a full refund or contact the company directly. The recalled bars were sold in flavors including strawberry-pumpkin-beet, apple-sweet potato-spinach, banana-pumpkin-cauliflower, variety packs, and baby and toddler snack samplers.
