Rolls-Royce Spectre Series II Review: Ultimate Luxury EV Improved

By Islam El-Sakka

Rolls-Royce has updated its Spectre electric coupé with the Series II, bringing more power, revised battery technology and a claimed range of up to 390 miles, while retaining the model's hallmark luxury and exclusivity. The Spectre remains the brand's second best-selling model globally in 2025, and the Series II adds a new solid paint colour, Ethereal Blue, and a Gradient Two-Tone finish that shifts hue along the body.

Performance and Range

The Series II uses a 112.4 kWh battery and dual motors producing 593 bhp and 1,015 Nm of torque, up 115 Nm from the original. Acceleration is linear and measured, with 0–62 mph in 4.5 seconds and a top speed of 155 mph. The Black Badge variant offers up to 671 bhp in Infinity Mode and 1,100 Nm in Spirited Mode, cutting 0–62 mph to 4.3 seconds. Claimed range spans 362–390 miles depending on specification. Maximum DC charging is 195 kW, with a 10–80% charge quoted at 28 minutes; real-world testing at an Ionity charger peaked at 162 kW.

Ride and Handling

The Spectre delivers the expected gliding ride, though occasional firmness over potholes can send a shimmy through the cabin. Steering is relaxed rather than reactive, suiting the car's grand-touring character. One-pedal driving integrates smoothly. The car weighs 2,925 kg and measures 5,490 mm long, 2,144 mm wide, with a 12,700 mm turning circle, making it substantial on narrow lanes.

Interior and Personalization

The cabin remains a showcase of craftsmanship, with options including Duality Twill bamboo-rayon fabric, Placed Perforation leather with 78,138 micro-perforations, and Brindled Walnut veneer blended with eucalyptus fibres. Rear-hinged doors require care in tight spaces; boot capacity is 380 litres. Rear seats accommodate passengers over six feet tall comfortably. Personalisation can push the average transaction price to around £400,000, with the base Series II starting at £280,000 and Black Badge at £325,000.

Technology and Infotainment

The Spirit digital interface features an animated Spirit of Ecstasy startup graphic, Apple CarPlay, DAB radio, wireless charging, and a voice assistant named Eleanor. Physical buttons are retained for many functions. The audio system is praised as among the best without Dolby Atmos, though the reviewer notes the technology suite could have advanced further. Illuminated interior elements, including a fascia panel with 8,108 points of light and a starlight headliner, can be dimmed or disabled.

Pricing and Verdict

Rolls-Royce provides a 15-year, unlimited-mileage battery warranty and a four-year, unlimited-mileage vehicle warranty. Average annual mileage is around 4,000 miles, with most charging at home. The Spectre Series II is described as a truly sumptuous motor car where electric power suits the brand beautifully, offering effortless performance and a sense of occasion unmatched by rivals. Reservations include occasional urban ride firmness, large doors needing space, and a technology package that lags slightly behind the latest industry standards.
