Six people died and seven were injured in a fire that tore through a two-story row house in Brooklyn's Sunset Park neighborhood early Thursday, according to the New York City Fire Department.

Heavy fire was reported at 1:40 a.m. in the row frame building. More than 200 first responders arrived and brought the blaze under control in about three hours.

Four people died at the scene. Two critically injured people were taken to a hospital and later pronounced dead. Four others suffered non-life-threatening injuries, and three firefighters sustained minor injuries.

Investigation Underway

No names or ages of the victims have been released. Fire marshals are investigating the cause. A lithium-ion battery was found at the scene, but officials have not determined if it was related to the fire.
