Iranian demonstrators burned a banner depicting Donald Trump during a state-organized rally in Tehran on Thursday, following the Republican Party's heavy losses in the US midterm elections.
The rally marked the anniversary of the 1979 student takeover of the US embassy. Iranian officials claimed the election results showed voters had rejected the war launched by the US president, while Tehran remained on high alert for possible renewed strikes.
Democrats secured landslide control of both the House and Senate. Trump acknowledged that the conflict with Iran may have contributed to his party's defeat.
