Bomb Threat Diverts Dublin-Rome Flight to French Air Base

A passenger plane flying from Dublin to Rome was diverted to a French air force base Thursday following a bomb alert, the latest in a series of threats targeting European aviation this week.

Series of Threats Across Europe

Aer Lingus flight EI402 landed safely at Évreux-Fauville Air Base in Normandy after the crew declared a security precaution. French Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu's office said it was monitoring the situation.

Flight tracking data showed the Airbus A320 descending and circling west of Paris before landing. Authorities have not found any explosive devices on board.

Including this incident, at least nine flights in Europe have received bomb threats since Monday, forcing diversions and the brief closure of an airport in Poland. No group has claimed responsibility.

Cruise Ship Targeted in Greece

Separately, Greek authorities launched a security operation at the port of Syros on Tuesday after a bomb threat against the Panama-flagged cruise ship Crown Iris, which was bound for Haifa, Israel. The threat claimed an explosive device had been attached to the hull.
