Lorraine Kelly Show Pulled Off Air After Covent Garden Power Outage

By Salma El-Sakka

Lorraine Kelly's ITV daytime chat show was pulled from the schedule on Wednesday after a power outage hit the Covent Garden studio where the programme is filmed. Normal programming resumed by Thursday, with Kelly returning to the air.

Power cut affects multiple ITV shows

The outage also forced the cancellation of This Morning and disrupted Loose Women, which was replaced by an episode of Tipping Point: Best Ever Finals. ITV said the disruption was caused by "a power cut overnight in the wider area where our Covent Garden studio is based."

Kelly describes disruption

Speaking to The Sun at the Devil Wears Prada musical gala, Kelly, 66, said she was told to turn back while driving to work because "all the power's gone." She added that a pre-recorded show was ready but the situation was "a bit weird" as she had to come to London anyway for a photoshoot and evening event.

ITV statement and broader context

ITV confirmed normal programming resumed by 2pm. The incident comes amid wider news discussion about potential increases in UK blackouts linked to gas supplies affecting power stations.

Schedule changes and rescheduling

Lorraine airs weekdays at 9.30am for half an hour, reduced from its traditional hour-long slot last year amid budget cuts at ITV. Kelly said on Instagram she had been set to interview Sharleen Spiteri of the band Texas but would reschedule.
