UK companies are resorting to desperate measures to cope with the administrative burden created by post-Brexit regulations, according to a new report. The findings reveal what researchers describe as a "staggering" financial toll on businesses navigating the new trade environment.
Mounting Compliance Burden
Firms across multiple sectors report sharply increased paperwork, customs checks, and regulatory divergence since the UK's departure from the European Union. Small and medium-sized enterprises are particularly affected, with many lacking the resources to absorb the additional compliance costs.
Operational Disruptions
Businesses have been forced to hire specialist staff, invest in new software systems, and restructure supply chains to maintain access to European markets. Some companies have reportedly reduced product lines or withdrawn from EU markets entirely due to the complexity and expense of the new requirements.
