A cat named Luna has been reunited with her owner in Glasgow after accidentally travelling around 280 miles to Yorkshire, apparently hiding inside a van.
Missing for weeks
Luna disappeared from Emily Caldwell's home in the Shawlands area of Glasgow on 9 October. Caldwell, 34, spent weeks searching and putting up flyers, but began to fear the worst after no sightings.
Found in Yorkshire
On 29 October, Caldwell received an email from a student who believed she had found the missing cat at the College for International Co-operation and Development near Winestead, between Hull and the coast. Photos and a video confirmed it was Luna.
It is thought Luna stowed away in the van of a staff member who had been visiting Glasgow and drove back to Hull unaware of the feline passenger.
Students' detective work
Students at the college cared for Luna, feeding her and providing a bed. A vet scanned her microchip but did not contact Caldwell. The students then traced Caldwell through a listing she had posted on the PawBoost missing-pet app, and a second vet scan confirmed the match.
Homecoming
Caldwell's father, who lives in northern England, collected Luna and brought her home on 31 October. She returned thinner and missing a tooth but otherwise unharmed, sleeping for several days after her ordeal.
Caldwell said Luna appears tougher and more athletic since her adventure, jumping to heights she never attempted before, but clearly recognised she was home, with her tail high and a relaxed demeanour.
