Erling Haaland scored a late winner as Manchester City edged a thrilling Champions League encounter against RB Leipzig 3-2 in Germany on Wednesday.

Haaland's decisive strike

The Norwegian striker netted his 14th goal of the season, his 13th in nine career appearances against Leipzig and his 62nd in 61 Champions League matches, sliding home Elliot Anderson's low cross 12 minutes from time.

Early drama and own goal

City took the lead in the 37th minute when Castello Lukeba bundled a Nico O'Reilly cutback into his own net, but Ridle Baku quickly equalised for the hosts. Enzo Fernandez restored City's advantage with a header from Iliman Ndiaye's cross, only for Antonio Nusa to level again with a low finish after a clever pass from Christopher Nkunku.

Donnarumma's difficult night

Goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma had a night to forget, fumbling an early Nusa shot over the bar and later being caught off his line as Baku fired in at his near post for Leipzig's first equaliser.

City climb into automatic qualifying spots

The victory lifted Enzo Maresca's side to seventh in the Champions League table, inside the automatic qualification places for the knockout rounds. Leipzig, managed by former City defender Martin Demichelis, pushed City throughout and hit the woodwork twice in the closing stages.
