Don Mancini, creator of the Chucky horror franchise, criticized rapper Nicki Minaj on Wednesday for using an AI-generated image of the killer doll to endorse Republican candidates on Election Day.
Mancini Responds on X
Minaj shared a graphic on X showing Chucky in a pink suit wearing a “Vote red” pin. Mancini replied on the platform, writing: “IMPOSTER…CHUCKY IS PART OF THE BLUE WAVE THAT WILL WASH AWAY ALL THE CORRUPTION.”
Character’s Progressive Values Highlighted
In a follow-up post, Mancini emphasized the character’s progressive values, stating: “Chucky has a trans kid. Chucky protects the dolls. Chucky is anti-ICE. Chucky says ‘A BLUE WAVE is coming, as BLUE as my f***in’ eyes!’” He referenced the franchise’s Glen/Glenda character, introduced in 2004’s Seed of Chucky, who is identified as queer.
Mancini also posted a photo of a Chucky doll with blue hair instead of its trademark red locks, adding: “Too bad, Nicki! No AI, by the way!”
Minaj’s Trump Support
Minaj has been an outspoken supporter of former President Donald Trump since 2025. She appeared at his Michigan rally on October 25, declaring her love for him, and later called herself “probably the president’s number one fan.”
Election Aftermath
Democrats gained control of both the House and Senate in the midterm elections, a shift not seen in decades. Trump made his first post-election appearance Wednesday, focusing on a White House ballroom construction project and not addressing the results. He reiterated that his party would have won “in a landslide” if his name had been on the ballot.
