A helicopter crash in Miami on Wednesday morning left one person dead and two others injured, authorities said.

The Robinson R44 II helicopter was carrying three people when it crashed into the waters of Biscayne Bay, east of Miami Executive Airport, at approximately 11:30 a.m. The U.S. Coast Guard responded to the scene.

One person was pronounced dead at the scene, while two adults with traumatic injuries were transported by ground rescue units to a landing zone and then flown by air rescue to a major trauma center, according to Miami-Dade Fire Rescue. The Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office confirmed a coordinated emergency response involving multiple fire rescue agencies.

Aerial footage showed the helicopter submerged upside down with its yellow emergency floats still attached. The National Transportation Safety Board has launched an investigation into the crash, and the Federal Aviation Administration has been contacted for comment.

The incident occurred days after a business jet crashed in Greenacres, Florida, on Sunday, killing all nine people on board. That crew had reported icing, turbulence, and precipitation before declaring a mayday.
