Former President Donald Trump broke his silence on Wednesday following Democratic victories in the 2026 midterm elections, sharing images of past newspaper coverage that praised his administration.
Trump Posts Favorable Newspaper Pages
On his social media platform, Trump posted photographs of the New York Post's Tuesday print edition, which featured a front-page story celebrating the so-called "Donroe Doctrine" and his military-driven foreign policy in the Western Hemisphere. The newspaper's November 4, 2026, edition highlighted operations targeting drug traffickers and a military move to arrest Venezuela's ousted leader Nicolás Maduro.
Fox News Appearance and Market Claims
Trump also called into Fox News on election night to discuss the results, which gave Democrats control of Congress with sweeping state-level wins. He later touted a "record high" stock market in subsequent posts, while the New York Post's Wednesday edition depicted the president drowning under a "blue tsunami" in a cartoon inspired by "The Great Wave off Kanagawa."
Developing Story
The midterm results marked a significant setback for Trump's influence, and his initial public response focused on revisiting positive media portrayals rather than addressing the electoral losses directly.
