The Chicks waved fans printed with "F*** Trump" onstage at a Los Angeles concert Tuesday night, celebrating the Democrats flipping both the Senate and the House in the midterm elections. Lead singer Natalie Maines addressed the crowd at the Dolby Theater, noting that Texas had turned blue and the band's 20th anniversary of "Taking the Long Way" coincided with the historic night.

Band celebrates historic Democratic victories

Maines told the roaring audience that the evening would have been very different had Democrats not won control of the Senate and the House. The Texas-based group has frequently criticized President Donald Trump and performed at the 2024 Democratic National Convention in Chicago.

Democrats win control of Congress

Voters in conservative strongholds including Texas, Maine, Kansas, Iowa, Ohio and both Carolinas rejected Republican candidates, handing Democrats majorities in both chambers. The election also produced historic firsts: the nation's first Black female governor, first Native American female governor, first Native female senator and first openly gay male U.S. senator.

Celebrities react to blue wave

"Hacks" star Hannah Einbinder toasted Abdul El-Sayed's historic Senate victory in Michigan and later posted a video performing an impression of Michigan Democrat Haley Stevens. Actress Mandy Moore shared a series of Instagram stories as results came in, thanking voters and condemning endless wars and healthcare rollbacks.

Actor Henry Winkler replied "Dreams do come true" to a social media check-in about the results. John Leguizamo posted a celebratory video from his bathrobe, hailing the election of California's first Latino governor. Bette Midler declared she was "overjoyed" and thanked America for saving the country.

Kim Kardashian shared a photo captioned "GOOD MORNING AMERICA." Pedro Pascal reposted Texas turning blue on his Instagram stories, writing "SOBBING" and celebrating Deb Haaland's election as the first Native American woman governor in New Mexico. Molly Ringwald congratulated California Governor Xavier Becerra and shared a blue wave emoji signifying the Democratic sweep.
