A U.S. Marine died following a training incident at Camp Schwab in Okinawa, Japan, on November 3, 2026, the 3rd Marine Division announced Wednesday. The incident is under investigation.

The 3rd Marine Division said in a statement that it announced the death "with heavy hearts." Lt. Tyler Thomas, a spokesperson for the III Marine Expeditionary Force, confirmed the incident occurred at Camp Schwab but declined to say whether the Marine died at the scene or was transported to a hospital.
Thomas also declined to comment on whether other personnel were injured. The Marine's name is being withheld until 24 hours after next-of-kin notification, in line with standard policy.
