Kim Kardashian Feared Career Over After 'All's Fair' Backlash

By Basant El-Faramawy

Kim Kardashian has said she feared her career was finished after critics slammed her performance in the legal drama "All's Fair," before the negative attention helped pull in a large audience. The reality star and businesswoman reprises her role as divorce lawyer Allura Grant in the show's second series.

Criticism Drives Viewership

Kardashian admitted she thought her career was over after the acting backlash, but called it "so funny" that the criticism drew viewers. "People came in and wanted to hate on it so much that the hate turned into viewers wanting to see how bad it was," she said. "They tuned in and they made it like a number one show for weeks on end because they were tuning in to see how ridiculous we would be."

Co-Star Support

Kardashian said she initially worried her co-stars would despise her for bringing a "whole wave of hate" they had never experienced. Sarah Paulson left her a supportive voicemail that Kardashian said gave her confidence and changed everything. Paulson later explained she simply told Kardashian she is "really special" and praised her growth in the role.

Second Season Details

The series, created by Ryan Murphy, stars Kardashian opposite Glenn Close, Sarah Paulson, Naomi Watts, Teyana Taylor, and Niecy Nash-Betts. The first season debuted on Disney+ last year and became a success for the streaming service despite a 6 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The second season arrives on Disney+ on March 4.

Bar Exam Joke Included

The new season features a gag where Kardashian's character admits she failed the bar exam on her first attempt, mirroring Kardashian's own experience with the California bar exam in July 2025. She called the joke "genius" and said creator Ryan Murphy knew she would be comfortable with it.
