UK residents are being reminded of their legal rights regarding fireworks use during Bonfire Night celebrations. The law sets specific curfews for when fireworks can be set off, with penalties for violations.
Curfew Times and Penalties
Standard curfew prohibits fireworks between 11pm and 7am, but this extends to midnight on November 5 for Bonfire Night. Breaching these times can result in an on-the-spot fine of £90.
Legal Rights for Affected Neighbours
Those disturbed by late-night fireworks have legal recourse. Local councils can issue fixed penalty notices, and persistent offenders may face further action. The regulations aim to balance celebration with public safety and noise control.
