Model, actor, and "Masked Singer" judge Jenny McCarthy has defended her decision to keep breast implants despite suffering from toxic mold poisoning that has forced her to live in a tent for months.
Mold Poisoning and Tent Living
McCarthy, a well-known vaccine skeptic and advocate for non-toxic living, revealed she has been diagnosed with mycotoxin poisoning, which caused symptoms including eye growths and tooth decay. She said she remediated the mold in her Los Angeles home but remains in a tent because she is "too paranoid" to live indoors, describing herself as seven months into a detox process.
Breast Implant History
During a recent podcast episode with her plastic surgeon, Dr. Terry Dubrow, McCarthy acknowledged criticism for promoting non-toxic living while having implants. She said she has undergone multiple breast surgeries, including a reduction in 2000 and a new implant procedure in 2024, and is not ready to remove them despite her health issues. Dubrow stated he did not believe the implants were linked to her mold poisoning.
Medical Context on Implant Illness
British experts in 2019 called for more research into Breast Implant Illness (BII), a term for generalized symptoms some patients attribute to silicone implants. The Mayo Clinic notes the exact relationship is not clearly understood, while the FDA lists risks such as pain, infection, and rupture.
