Debris from a Learjet that crashed in Florida, killing all nine people on board, has been discovered up to 3.8 miles from the main impact site, according to the National Transportation Safety Board.
Debris Found Far From Impact Site
In a media update on Tuesday, NTSB spokesperson Tom Chappell said the aircraft's left elevator -- a control surface on the tail that manages vertical pitch -- was found in three pieces scattered between 1.3 and 3.8 miles from the crash crater.
Investigation to Begin
Chappell confirmed that investigation of the crater, which had been delayed because debris obstructed access, would likely begin on Wednesday. Other critical components of the aircraft are expected to be located as the inquiry proceeds.
