Debris from a Learjet that crashed in Florida killing all nine people on board has been found nearly four miles from the impact site, air investigators said.
Debris scattered miles from crater
The National Transportation Safety Board spokesperson Tom Chappell said Tuesday that the aircraft's left elevator — a control surface on the tail that controls vertical pitch — was discovered in three pieces between 1.3 and 3.8 miles from the crash crater.
Crater investigation delayed
Chappell confirmed that examination of the crater, which had been delayed because debris obstructed access, would likely begin Wednesday, with other critical components of the aircraft expected to be located.
