Poll: 1 in 10 Trump Voters Plan to Switch to Democrats in Midterms

A new poll finds that approximately 9 percent of people who voted for Donald Trump in 2024 intend to choose a Democratic candidate in the November 3 midterm elections, compared to just over 2 percent of Kamala Harris voters who plan to vote Republican.

Young and Latino voters drift from MAGA

The polling indicates that significant numbers of young and Latino voters have moved away from identifying with the MAGA movement, citing disillusionment with the war in Iran, the high cost of living, and the administration's aggressive deportation tactics. Hispanic Trump voters identifying as MAGA Republicans fell from 56 percent at the end of last year to 37 percent in October. Among Trump voters aged 20 to 29, certainty to vote dropped from 50 percent to 38 percent over the same period.

Trump acknowledges historical headwinds

President Trump acknowledged on Monday that historical trends typically favor the opposition party in midterms. In a video message recorded outside the Oval Office, he urged young voters to turn out, calling this the "golden age of America." The White House maintained that Trump remains the "unequivocal leader, best messenger, and unmatched motivator" for the Republican Party.

Republicans express concern over Hispanic support

While the Republican National Committee highlighted the administration's fulfilled promises, Republicans in the South are reportedly "incredibly worried" about losing Hispanic voters. A Texas Republican strategist told Politico that aggressive immigration enforcement is undermining economic arguments: "Good luck convincing a guy things are getting better while ICE is picking up his uncle." Two-thirds of Hispanic Trump voters still intend to vote Republican, but the 19-point drop in MAGA identification signals a notable shift.
