Manchester United manager Michael Carrick has dropped defender Lisandro Martinez from the starting line-up for Tuesday's Champions League match against Roma at Old Trafford.
Martinez pays for Chelsea errors
The Argentine was sent off and conceded a penalty in Saturday's 2-0 Premier League defeat at Chelsea, his latest in a series of poor performances. Although the red card did not rule him out of European competition, Carrick opted to replace him with Ayden Heaven.
Winless run puts Carrick under pressure
United have not won since a 4-0 victory over Sabah in their European opener in September, a run of nine matches without a victory. Martinez had retained his place despite being fined for criticising the club hierarchy after last month's Champions League loss at Atletico Madrid, which was followed by a 4-1 defeat at Como.
Further changes for Roma clash
Midfielder Kobbie Mainoo also returns to the starting XI in place of Andrey Santos, while Bruno Fernandes remains on the bench after questioning Carrick's approach following the Como defeat.
