Convicted murderer Jacob Morley, who escaped from a Tennessee prison last month, was taken into custody Tuesday near Kansas City, Missouri, authorities announced.
Escape and Manhunt
Morley, 28, escaped from the Northwest Correctional Complex in Tiptonville on October 25, 2026, breaching the perimeter fence and leaving in his prison uniform, according to the Tennessee Department of Correction. He was serving a life sentence for first-degree murder, aggravated burglary, tampering with evidence, evading arrest and vandalism in Carter County.
After his escape, Morley allegedly stole a white 2005 Ford pickup truck in Tennessee. The vehicle was later found abandoned in Marion, Illinois, on October 27, but his whereabouts remained unknown until Tuesday.
Capture in Missouri
The Williamson County Sheriff's Office in Illinois reported responding to a stolen vehicle report Tuesday morning southwest of Marion. Investigators determined the truck had been stolen by Morley. Coordinated efforts with law enforcement partners led to his apprehension by the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Carroll County, near Norborne, about an hour east of Kansas City.
